Torridon tours

Explore our amazing landscapes with a local guide

Provided in partnership with Donald McDonald Tours,  your driver, a life-long highlander, will greet you as they collect you from the Torridon and whisk you off to experience the best that the West Highlands has to offer. A minimum of 2 people are required per tour.

Torridon Tours are available to residents at The Torridon Resort only.

Applecross Peninsula Circular

When – Approx – 11am – 4pm

Take a leisurely drive via the coast road, exploring the majestically rugged Applecross Peninsula before enjoying lunch in the world famous Applecross Inn followed by a visit to the highly rated Applecross Photographic Gallery.

As you return to The Torridon you’ll summit the Bealach na Ba, widley recognised as one of the finest roads in Scotland whilst experiencing stunning views of Skye and the Outer Hebrides.

The return route will take you through the village of Shieldaig with its coastal views and the chance to see a Sea Eagle.

Ullapool

When – Approx – 9am – 5pm

Skip past Loch Maree’s ancient islands where mythical fairies abound in some of Scotland’s last original pine forests before visiting Gairloch. Here you will enjoy golden sands, local shopping and historical knowledge. Further round the coast you’ll visit Gruinard Bay and discover the dark secrets of Gruinard Island before visiting the deeply mysterious Corrieshalloch Gorge, one of Scotland’s finest glaciated gorges formed more than 10 thousand years ago by rapidly melting ice sheets.

Once you reach glorious Ullapool you can enjoy lunch at your leisure in one of the town’s fine eateries after which you’ll visit Croick Church where you’ll learn about the highland clearances that spread Scotland’s diaspora across the world. You’ll return to The Torridon via the Struie.

Glenelg to Skye

When – Approx 9am – 5pm

Visit Scotland’s most iconic castle, Eilean Donan, and learn the ragged history of the clans that made this fortress their home. Your day will be filled with some of Scotland’s finest scenery as you ascend the Ratagan Pass and pass the imperious Five Sisters of Kintail before enjoying lunch at the beautifully situated Glenelg Inn.

The afternoon will see you take the ferry to Skye, briefly setting foot on the south side of the island, before heading back across the Skye Bridge as you head back to The Torridon via the glorious village of Plockton and featuring a stop at Lochcarron Weavers to learn about the traditional skills involved in Scotland’s national dress.

Diabaig

When –  Approx 5pm – 9pm – Wellies provided

Explore Torridon Village and take the shore path to Alligin where the history of the area will come to life with your local guide.

Later you’ll head to the heights of the Bealach na Gaoithe Viewpoint and enjoy majestic views across Loch Torridon to the hidden jewel of Loch Damph.

Enjoy a delicious locally sourced dinner with Aart and Amanda at The Gille Brighde in Diabaig before a gentle walk at the Corry waterfall en-route back to The Torridon
