The Torridon owner biographies

Dan Rose-Bristow, co-owner of The Torridon, Wester Ross

Rohaise Rose-Bristow and her husband Dan bought The Torridon Resort in the Scottish Highlands in 2004 from Rohaise’s parents who purchased the property in 1992.

Dan is responsible for the financial and logistical operations at The Torridon, oversees marketing activity, and supervises maintenance of the grounds and garden, which includes his role as farmer at The Torridon Farm, tending to Highland coos and Tamworth pigs!

Through sensible planning and investment, occupancy and REVPAR at The Torridon have significantly increased year on year in the last six years. The Torridon is the only hotel to win AA Scottish Hotel of the Year twice and was named Independent Hotel of the Year at the 2018 Cateys.

In addition to his responsibilities as a successful hotelier, Dan is treasurer of Master Innholders, ex Chairman of Pride of Britain Hotels, Director of Luxury Scotland Consortium and Director of NorthCoast 500.

Dan and his wife Rohaise, who is responsible for training and development and interior design, have taken a strategic approach to redeveloping The Torridon over the past decade.

Dan says: “Working to our own individual strengths we have shared the roles and responsibilities of managing a busy property. We can be polar-opposites but combined we make a formidable team.”

Rohaise Rose-Bristow, co-owner of The Torridon Resort, Wester Ross

Rohaise Rose-Bristow and her husband Dan bought The Torridon Resort in the Scottish Highlands in 2004 from Rohaise’s parents who purchased the property in 1992.

Rohaise is a Qualified Coach and Group Trainer and the People Director at The Torridon. She provides every member of the team with a personalised training and development programme, driving excellence and strategic development. In 2017 Rohaise was appointed Chairman of Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland, which has been awarded the Princess Royal Award. She is also a UK Hospitality Scotland committee member, Director of AHS, and a member of Hospitality Action. In 2020 Rohaise became a Master Innholder.

Rohaise also single-handedly refurbishes the luxurious bedrooms at The Torridon. Using products and suppliers locally, from Scotland and the UK, the bedrooms are individual canvases for bold palettes and unique furnishings set against Victorian heritage.

Rohaise nurtures a theme or sentiment whilst musing over each room as a work of art. She aspires to create conversation and exceed expectations and wants guests to feel inspired to adapt her own design into the design of their own homes. She has been delighted on numerous occasions when guests have selected a room based on its design.
