Applecross or A’ Chomraich in Gaelic means 'The Sanctuary,' a name that captures this peaceful, remote and elemental corner of the Highlands. It is just an hour's drive from The Torridon which can be reached via the iconic Bealach na Bà. This shoreline sauna offers a moment of deep stillness surrounded by sea, sky and rugged mountain views.

Applecross Sauna is a community-run project created by a group of local friends living and working on the peninsula who share a passion for staying active and healthy outdoors. Inspired by a trip to Norway, where they experienced the restorative power of sauna culture and cold water immersion, the group set out to bring a similar tradition to this corner of the Highlands.

Northern Scotland shares much with Scandinavia, long winters, wild weather, and breathtaking natural surroundings making it the perfect place to embrace sauna culture. Through local grants, crowdfunding, and fundraising efforts such as the Applecross Duathlon, the community came together to build the sauna for both local use and visitor enjoyment.

Guests can make use of the cosy bothy for changing and storing belongings, as well as cold water showers and traditional watering cans for cooling off between sauna sessions. Cold water plunge baths are also in the making, we hope to have these up and running in the coming weeks. We’ve thought carefully about the small details to make your sauna experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
