What to expect from Torridon Outdoors

We talk to Ben Sharp, Activity Instructor, about what you can expect when booking in for an activity with the Torridon Outdoors team

Torridon Outdoors run activities all year round for all abilities. Here is a rundown of what to expect from your adventures with us and how best to prepare and plan your visit.

We have an activity program running throughout the year which anyone can join, assuming we have space. Most of our activities run on a 6 client to 1 instructor basis. This is to give clients the best possible experience, as high numbers often mean the quality of the session is diluted. If you don’t fancy what’s on the program, then we can organise more bespoke half and full day activities such as bagging a Munro, kayaking to the next village or exploring the mountains on a bike.

Torridon Outdoors will provide all of the specialist equipment you will need and of course you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you have it. We provide a full kit list for all our activities but for most of activities you will be fine if you come along wearing clothes that you might go hill walking or go the gym in. A waterproof jacket, fleece, gloves and hat are always a good idea as well. Preferably no cotton and certainly no jeans!

We have a wide range of activities for families, couples, groups of friends or solo travellers. Sea kayaking is a firm favourite and a very inclusive activity for people of all abilities. We often spot seals, eagles, starfish, sea anemones and several sea birds.

If you want something a little more adventurous then coasteering and gorge scrambling are the activities for you. They both involve a lot of scrambling around on the rocks, jumping into the water and swimming about.

During the winter we carry on with activities, but the format changes slightly to accommodate the changing daylight hours and cooler temperatures. Gorge scrambling and coasteering are removed until the spring and we have one main activity in the middle of the day – such as canoeing, sea kayaking or mountain biking. Before and after that we offer clay pigeon shooting, archery and guided walks, which in the middle of the winter return around sunset!

So wherever your taste in adventures lies, we can organise you an experience to remember!
