Ronan Williamson - First Year Apprentice
How long have you worked at The Torridon?
I started my Apprenticeship with the Torridon in October 2018
What brought you to work at The Torridon?
I would say the main thing that made me want to work at the Torridon was the level of training each staff member receives. Its truly second to none. The beautiful location is a bonus and there are so many things to do on your time off.
Tell us your favourite thing about your job?
Its very hard to pick just one thing as there is many things I could say here but my main favourite part of my job is being able to see myself constantly improve and learn everyday and seeing how this is going to benefit my long term career. Being able to work in such a beautiful area with a fantastic team is amazing!
Which department are you looking forward to working in that you haven’t experienced yet?
The kitchen is somewhere I am looking forward to experiencing. I am looking forward to learning about local ingredients and the art of cooking!
How has the team at The Torridon supported your development in your Apprenticeship?
Each and every single team member in the Torridon have supported me in some way and its great to feel you can ask anyone about any queries you posses without feeling silly. I am developing every day at the Torridon and the Team provide 5 star training and help me with anything I am unsure about.
What do you do on your days off?
On my days off , I sometimes go home to see my family. There are so many places to explore nearby so I spend time taking photos , walking and even fishing!
Do you have any advice for someone thinking of applying to an apprenticeship at The Torridon?
My advice would be to make sure you make the most of your time here, training , outdoors, making friends etc. Also make sure that the area is right for you and if you have a car it’s a bonus. Another piece of advice would also be just to work as hard as you can while you are here doing the Apprenticeship and take advantage of the rewarding opportunities that arise.
