“To celebrate World Whisky Day, we here at The Torridon are excited announce the newest addition to our whisky collection, of 365 whiskies, one for every day of the year; the award winning Craigellachie 31yr. Recently voted best single malt in the world by Whisky Magazine, this prized bottling provides an excellent highlight for any visit to our whisky bar.
Weighing in at a healthy 52.2% ABV, you can certainly feel the punch here on the nose, alongside notes of toasted oats, wet tobacco leaf, vanilla and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Surprisingly dry mouthfeel, almost chalky initially, but making way to a buttery, rich texture with the addition of a few drops of pure highland water. Flavours and notes of pepperoni, green peppers and salty oak play off against fresh nectarines and, is that a slight hint of hops too? A long finish that peters out with a hint of bonfire smoke. A very pleasing, complex and deep dram, well worthy of the title of world’s best single malt.
Make sure you try a dram next time you stop by The Torridon Whisky Bar and our helpful and knowledgable staff will make sure to help suggest a whisky to fulfil your experience!”
