If you have ever gripped a steering wheel on the road between Kinlochewe and The Torridon you will know this is prime driving country, some of the best in the UK.

No wonder so many car commercial have been filmed here and so many classic car trips include these routes.

One of the best, most exciting roads of all is the Bealach na Bà – or Pass of the Cattle – the famous twisting, single-track mountain road over the Applecross Peninsula. Originally a drovers’ route it enjoys the highest ascent of any road in the UK.

Our friend, photographer and musician, Steve Carter has captured the thrill of driving the Bealach na Bà in this video. While you can tackle it with Steve’s skill and breakneck enthusiasm, we can also organise a picnic for guests who want to take their time and pause along the way.
