According to Lonely Planet, Scotland is one of the top countries to visit in 2014, trailing only Brazil and Antarctica.

To be honest, it is hard to imagine why we have come third. Brazil has lovely beaches, but so does Scotland and ours are less crowded with world-class footballers. Antarctica is great but the food is iffy and the bars are empty.

However, we will accept third place with humility.

2014 really will be a great time to visit Scotland, with the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup, to mention a couple of highlights.
