As we mentioned last time, The Torridon was delighted to receive recognition from the Carbon Trust for our efforts to be as ecologically responsible as possible.

Now, just a few days later, we have become proud recipients of a gold award from The Green Tourism Business Scheme. This is very gratifying and another tribute to the work of The Torridon green team, led by Colleen.

The Green Tourism inspectors awarded The Torridon 83% on their most recent visit, citing the progress the team has made on green initiatives throughout the hotel, inn, gardens and resort.

Among examples of good practice, the report’s authors listed the responsible visitor charter, our use of greener cleaning products and eco toiletries, the cultivation of homegrown – and reared – produce for the dinner table, our support of the local mountain rescue team and of course our new wood chip-fired heating system.

There is still room to improve however and the Torridon green team will be examining recommendations made in order to do even better next time.
