Craig and Andy have been busy in the garden and grounds

Spring is here…although with some pretty bad wind and rain and cold temperatures you would have thought on occasion she had gone away again.

Replacement polytunnel is back up thanks to Highland Polytunnels and in one week the rhubarb has gone mad! The old apple trees have been pruned hard to try and recover them after a couple of seasons of poor fruit. New apple trees have been planted along with blackthorn trees for some anticipated Sloe gin and everything has been receiving a good mulch.

The kitchen garden flower borders planted last year have started to bloom and some aggressive weeding this week has really given them new life. The bank in front of the hotel has been redesigned as a heather bed and planting will finish in the next week or so.

The greenhouse is also being replaced after 10 years of storm damage which has left it twisted and leaning, but we are waiting until later in the year once we have planted and brought on many of the vegetable and herb seeds. In May we are off to look at our new bee hive from www.secretherbgarden.co.uk and Dave is look forward to working with the honey…watch this space.
