Claire, a food blogger who writes the popular Claire’s Cake Bake blog was excited to visit The Stables. She describes “a rather nice pub” at first but soon discovers the inn is rather more than that.
She illustrates her restaurant review of The Stables with photographs of the food starting off with the Sleepy Hollow smoked salmon with caper and shallot dressing. “It was really delicious and beautifully presented.”
Anthony, her partner, had the Stornoway black pudding and apple stack, a real favourite at The Stables, served with a cider reduction, which he demolished in short order.
Their main courses included scampi with homemade tartar sauce (“yum!” she says) while Anthony had the famous Torridon Highland beef burger. “He really enjoyed every mouthful”.
Her most entertaining photograph is of a well-scraped dessert plate with the two spoons which had just demolished the enormously popular Torridon sticky toffee pudding. “…it was so delicious I forgot to take a photo. Seriously I don’t think it lasted more than 60 seconds.”
Claire finishes her restaurant review of The Stables like this: “I should probably also mention, they are child friendly which is perfect for pubs in remote locations! The staff were really nice and helpful and we really would come back.” Thank you Claire, come back any time. Read her foodie highlights of The Stables.
