Brian the Beekeeper brings us the latest on the Torridon Beehive, a project created to help preserve British bees while also providing delicious honey for The Torridon’s guests.
The beekeeping season is in full swing and the Torridon hive is now sitting in a field of oil seed rape, filling a box with oil seed rape honey.
If the weather is kind to the bees they may even fill two boxes of honey. Fingers crossed.
The hive will stay on this OSR field until all flowering has stopped which is normally around mid-June.
I will then take them to Stobo Resort in Peebles for the chance to get the main summer crop of clover, willow herb, thistle, meadow sweet and lime trees.
This gives us the most delicious honey – always a favourite with those who try it.
