Special diets are not that hard to cater for if you have the ingredients, imagination, a sense of service and willingness to please.
That said, it’s not that long since even a request for a meatless meal in the UK would be met with blank looks, a boiled egg and a squeeze of salad cream.
Not at the Torridon, however, where we have coped with just about every diet going, from the specifically medical (such as gluten-free) to the lifestyle (maybe vegan) to the weight-loss trend of the day (such as Atkins).
Our kitchen staff will always look after the customer as best they can. And it is far from a make-do service.
For example, consider this special menu from last week: mushroom carpaccio, seared sea bass with fennel puree, and passion fruit tart with mango puree. It met their dietary requirements but there is nothing there which would make the diner stand out of feel inferior.
All we ask is you give us a bit of notice of your requirements and our restaurant staff will make sure you feel welcome.
