Local Brewery: Closer to Home Than I’d Thought

When I first moved to the west coast in February, from the South of Scotland, I didn’t think I’d be hearing a braw Borders accent for quite some time. That was until I called in my first order from An Teallach Brewery. “So where are ee frae?” was the opening question I got from Davey Orr, turns out we hail from about 10 miles away from each other, we even went to the same high school! Davey has turned out to be a wealth of information on all things ale. No matter how wee the problem, he is always just a phone call away – and always with lashings of craic.

Davey and his wife Wilma opened An Teallach Brewey in 2002 and their ale has become a firm favourite among locals and staff alike. From the classic Crofters Pale Ale to the smooth Hector Stout there really is an ale for everyone.

Davey will be with us at The Stables at our Torridon Ale Festival on Sat 10th October for a meet the brewer session. His ales will also be in the running for the title of “Ale of the Festival”. Come along to cast your vote, no better excuse for trying a few.
