We have barely opened the larder door on Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink 2015 and already there is good news from the Torridon kitchens where our head chef David Barnett has been listed as finalist in Game Chef of the Year.
The competition is between chefs throughout Scotland who have a particular interest, skill and creativity in game cookery and David Barnett ticks all these boxes.
The final will take place at The Cook School Scotland on 26 January where the selected few must impress Michelin star chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack, as well as chef Paul Gayler of Braehead Foods and executive chef Joe Queen and Ian McAndrew of the Academy of Culinary Arts.
First prize is a chance to go on a wild boar hunt in Sweden courtesy of Highland Game. We’ve got our wishbones ready.
