As many of you will be well aware, we and by we I mean Colleen, are very proud of our splendid whisky collection in the bar at the Torridon hotel. It recently won a gold award from whisky magazine which makes it one of the best whisky bars in the world. Well, I got to thinking that whilst I am partial to a dram or two, my drink really is gin. So after much bargaining for shelf space in the whisky bar with Ms Calderwood, I put together a selection of gins and, almost as importantly, different tonic waters to match.
When looking for gins to include, I couldn’t believe the variety from all over Europe and beyond. I felt it was important in making my selection to consult popular opinion (those guests who were involved know who they are and their recommendations were gratefully received) and to consult reviews to create a great worldwide selection.
Such great names as Sipsmiths and Edgerton were included as well as some newcomer such as Bulldog from the UK and Death’s Door from the US (hopefully that’s not how we will feel the morning after!). Fever Tree tonic water makes a welcome debut in the bar as well as Fentimans. The collection is now available in the Torridon bar along with recommended garnishes and tonic waters. I don’t know about you but the sun is shining and I can feel a very nice G&T coming on in the garden right now.
