From the Whisky Bar: Sweet Homecoming

My excitement for whisky has reached a new level and will not see the likes again until Santa comes. The reason is this Linkwood 1983, the official bottling of The Gathering, part of Scotland’s Year of Homecoming 2009. Produced by Royal Mile Whiskies exclusively for The Gathering 2009, it is a delicious unchill-filtered example from Linkwood Distillery. It is limited to 625 bottles and my  bottle is number 253, which I am very proud of indeed.

I have to admit that I have not tried it yet as I am waiting on something special to happen before I open it – or at least until Daniel and I do a tasting, whichever comes first – but I assure you, you will be the first to hear the results. Going by the reviews it should be worth the wait. For the time being, it has been put on the top shelf with strict instructions to be left alone!
