From the Whisky Bar: Linkwood 26 Years Old Port Finish

Linkwood was established in 1821, having been named after the mansion house on the resort. The distillery has grown considerably since then but great care has always been taken to ensure Linkwood whisky maintains its traditional great flavours.

One manager would not even allow the removal of spider webs as he believed this would effect the final product.

I came across the 26 years old from Royal Mile Whiskies when placing my order three weeks ago. I have been slowly trying different finishes and the port finish has always appealed to me.

I have found it to suit people who do not like heavier malts but like the slight sweetness the port brings out.

Colleen’s tasting notes

Nose: herbs, citric fruits, some honey notes

Palate: oranges, sweet almost chocolate towards the sides, quite hot

Finish: long and warm

As always these are my notes and if you have any thoughts, these are always appreciated. Please let me know.
