Here is news worth celebrating with a dram or two. Our own Whisky Bar at The Torridon has been awarded gold status as one of the Great Whisky Bars in the World in the annual roundup by Whisky Magazine. This is a huge testament in particular to the dedication of Colleen, who runs the bar. She is totally dedicated in her search for great malt whiskies to stock the shelves and endlessly persuasive when it comes to getting Dan to bear the cost of her discoveries. The staff who work behind the bar with Colleen have also enthusiastically embraced their study of the distiller’s art and enjoy nothing better than introducing inquisitive guests to a new malt or bringing out an old favourite.
The great thing about having more than 300 malt whiskies is there is something for everyone. If you thought you did not like whisky or have never tasted anything beyond the staples of the duty free, Colleen and her crew will give you a thorough introduction to the different flavours and styles of malt whisky until you find just the right one for your palate.
There is no higher accolade than gold status as one of the Great Whisky Bars of the World but that does not mean Colleeen will be resting on her laurels. She is currently to be found sitting at the entrance to the hotel, waiting for delivery of another two brands which have never previously found their way onto the Torridon shelves. Reviews will follow here on the blog. I think that calls for a toast.
