The Inverness Coffee Roasting Company is passionate about all things coffee, especially the craft of teasing out the best in every bean, through careful selection of ethically sourced beans and skilled roasting appropriate to the characteristics of each variety.
Founded in 2015 by husband and wife team, Kevin and Heather Donnachie, the Inverness based roastery creates gourmet blends and signature roasts, hand roasting beans every week. ‘Partnering with the Torridon was a natural decision for us,’ says Kevin. ‘Their values of excellence, use of local produce and passion for provenance and sustainability align perfectly with our own.’
The collaboration began with both teams meeting to personally select the coffees which now offer a unique experience to The Torridon’s guests. The variety of blends means that guests can savour different coffees for breakfast, daylight hours and after dinner. The five chosen beans that Torridon guests enjoy, originate from Brazil, Kenya and as far afield as Papa New Guinea.
‘Four years ago, Inverness Coffee Roasting Co was given the opportunity to visit the Ipanema farm in Brazil,’ explains Kevin. ‘Our Inverness coffee bean shop manager Flo was selected to represent ‘Team Bean’. As well as meeting the farmers, she was also tasked with selecting the perfect beans from the farm to produce a new espresso blend. She stayed in the original farmhouse which was, by coincidence, established in 1887 (the same date as the Torridon – synergy indeed!) and the beans she selected are now the espresso blend being used in The Torridon Hotel.”
Each member of The Torridon team has been personally trained by the Coffee Baron himself, to ensure that the barista machines work in harmony with the barista and the beans themselves to produce an excellent brew every time.
