Rocket Composter – The rocket has arrived and installed we can now process the food waste from both of our kitchens into compost that can be used in our kitchen garden to produce more fruit and vegetables. We have recently installed a second polytunnel to increase our production. The more we can produce in the garden, the less we have to purchase from suppliers. This helps to reduce food miles and the amount of waste that is sent to landfill each week.

Carbon Offsetting – Partnered with It Must Be Now, South Pole’s carbon offset tool is available for our guests to use and is encouraged through our confirmation email. The amount of carbon required to travel to us is calculated simply and easily, our guests can then choose a carbon offset project to support. These projects are registered under a carbon scheme to ensure international standards are met. They help first nation economies transfer from diesel to biofuels or solar, save forests and protect wildlife.
