October is a truly magical time to visit the Torridon resort. This is why we have put together 10 reasons why you should visit the Torridon this October for a family-friendly break.
Resort with something for everyone!
At The Torridon Resort we have a luxury 5 star hotel, Inn with rooms and self-catering boathouse to suit all accommodation needs. 1887 is our 3 AA restaurant located in the Torridon hotel and The Stables serves hearty meals and a variety of ales.
There is also an on-site activities team, Torridon Outdoors who run both land and sea activities. If that wasn’t enough, we offer a range of experiences from afternoon tea to Morgan car hire so whatever type of break you are looking for, we are sure to have something to suit.
Family rooms at the Inn and interconnecting rooms at the hotel
We have accommodation set up for families at the Torridon including family rooms at the Inn from £220 B&B and interconnecting rooms at the hotel available from £770 B&B for two rooms in October 2019. Book your break now.
Activities for all abilities
The Torridon Outdoors team cater for all abilities. Most activities are available from 12+. View our activity programme to find out more.
If you book a hotel room, some of these activities are complimentary from our daily programme. These include kayaking, mountain biking, guided walks, archery and more.
Mountain bike hire
If you would like to adventure out on your own, we have mountain bikes available for hire from £25pp. These are suitable for the whole family including one with a baby seat for the smallest family members. The Torridon Outdoors team will be able to advise on suitable routes depending on abilities.
Family friendly menus
We have a number of family dining options including private dining at the hotel or relaxed dining at the Inn where we have a fantastic kids menu. The Torridon focuses on using a field-to-fork concept with our restaurants serving local produce and ingredients picked straight from the kitchen garden.
The perfect spot to switch off
Free Wifi is available but we encourage guests to switch into ‘Torridon Mode’ whilst they are here as the location of the Torridon means that you are given the opportunity to truly switch off and spend time as a family without the interruptions of daily life.
Fresh air is great for everyone!
The Torridon air is so good that we would love to bottle it. In addition to the many health benefits of being out in the fresh air, there has recently been a lot of research into the benefits of practising mindfulness. Read our blog on wellness in the highlands to find how you can practice mindfulness as a family on a trip to The Torridon and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
Easier than ever to get to
With increased flights available to Inverness from all over the UK, The Torridon is easier to get to than ever before. Fly daily to Inverness from London Gatwick, London Heathrow and Luton as well as Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Belfast, Dublin and Amsterdam. There is car hire available at the airport to easily get to Torridon, 1.5 hours away from the airport.
The wildlife
In October, the midges will have disappeared to make room for a whole variety of wildlife. In October you may be able to spot Highland cattle, grey seals and red squirrels. October is also when the red deer begin rutting. To find out more about the local deer, visit the local deer park five minutes drive from resort to find out more about the local deer.
The surroundings
Finally, we cannot ignore the beautiful surroundings of the Torridon hills. October is a truly magical time as the evenings get darker you can see star constellations and many stars including Arcturus. There is also the option to book one of our stargazing experiences to learn more about the night sky.
