The snow has arrived and Rich and Chris from the Torridon Activities team have been out and about leading groups and getting ready for the Torridon Winter Walking Festival as well as preparing the Torridon Winter Skills Training. However, before they threw themselves fully into the action, the boys have been out and about brushing up on their winter skills.
First they spent a day covering winter essentials such as ice axe arrest, getting used to moving with crampons on their feet again and the all-important avalanche awareness training.
The boys didn’t have to go far either as there was enough snow in Torridon to go out and play. All in all, it was a day well spent, with skills re-honed and the boys feeling confident about the demands of a winter season.
Note: The Torridon Winter Walking Festival runs from 3-5 March 2012. Details can be found on the Torridon website.
