This week Nick, John and I have been on bikes again. This time we were over at Red Rocks near Inverness. The day started well with us stopping to have breakfast on the way in and picking up a hire bike for John. Once there, we pulled the bikes out of the car and put them together. With everything working well, we set off in the sunshine. After getting about halfway round the rain came. This soaked the rocks making some of the trails slippery and uncomfortable. We persevered and eventually got round to the orange downhill section of the trail. Once on this we were flying, in all aspects of the word. The jumps were great. As we were going down I suddenly saw John fly sideways across the trail, through some tree stumps and into a ditch. Somehow he stood up and was fine! Not a scratch. After that it was plain sailing until my brake decided to detach itself from my frame and attach itself to the tyre. Fortunately this happened about five minutes from the car and I was able to carry the bike back to be fixed in Torridon. We are planning on going back when we are all off again so we can try harder and break less!
