From the Activity Team: Breaking in the Pyranha

I bought a kayak this week. I didn’t think I would two years ago when I hated kayaking and anything to do with it. However after a year with Chris showing me that kayaking is fun, I started to look at the coaching side of it and during my 3 star river kayak course, I was advised that the best way to take my skills to the next level would be to have my own kayak. So last weekend I popped into Stirling Canoes to see what they had and after a bit of ‘umming’ and ‘aahing’, I decided to buy a Pyranha Burn. Next day, I was back at work and as we had a quiet morning, we decided to go out and do some staff training and take some photos for our collection. We headed over to the Balgy falls to play in the waves and run the lower section. The waves at the top were good practice for the new boat giving me a good idea of what it could do and what I needed to change.

So now after two years of dislikeg, I now own a kayak and am now trying to find excuses to use it.
