11 – 16 year olds Winter Skills Course


















The aim of this free course is to give youngsters in the area the opportunity to learn essential winter skills. Our aim is to inspire and develop young people so that they can explore Scotland’s amazing winter mountain environment safely.
This course is designed for those youngsters who have a level of summer hill walking experience and are looking to the future to explore the winter aspect of winter hill walking.
The course will cover essentials such as crampon and ice axe skills, avalanche awareness and movement in a winter environment.

The course will be run by Chris Wilson and Richard Trott who are both Winter Mountain Leaders and both guide and instruct for a living.
The course has come about from both instructors wanting to put something into the community whilst trying to promote safety in the winter environment and as such there will be no financial rewards for the running of this course.
There are only twelve spaces for this course so it will be based on a first come first served basis. The closing date for applications is the February 15th and these can either be e-mailed or posted to the address below. The contact details below can also be used for any questions or enquiries.

Applicants will be informed as soon as possible after we have received their application as to whether they have been successful and course paper work will be issued to successful applicants on the same day.
Torridon Activities can provide ice axes, crampons and other safety and technical equipment but each applicant is expected to provide their own hill equipment such as clothing, rucksack, lunch and walking boots.
